Quando la palla tocca un punto del terreno fuori dalle linee laterali dell'area di gioco, un oggetto fuori dall'area di gioco, il soffitto, una persona, l'antenna, la parte della rete al di fuori delle bande laterali, passa sotto la rete o attraversa il piano verticale della rete totalmente o parzialmente al di fuori dello spazio di passaggio.
